ARTIST WANTED: details inside

Fri Aug 7, 2009, 4:47 PM
  • Mood: Artistic
  • Listening to: David Gilmour - A Great Day For Freedom (Live)
So I've just finished my first novel with intent to publish, part one of the Architects Of The Illusion series, which is at points a completely original transposition, at parts a reimagining, and at parts a revitalization of the Starfox fanfic series I had been hammering out and finished last year.

So with this first original novel completed, it's time for me to start thinking about the art side of it. Aside from needing a front cover concept and artist, I'll be hoping to have one high-quality, full-page image at the start of every chapter, depicting a still image from the events of that chapter. The purposes of this are two-fold: to give the reader a clear picture of what my anthros are built like (because there are many different types of anthro art and literature: there's the 'talking non-anthro' Disney route, the caricatured Looney Tunes style, and the more humanoid Starfox style which I'm using), and to nudge the reader towards the general atmospheric ballpark of what I'm writing towards while still letting them keep their own envisioning of what's going on to some extent.

So I'm looking for an artist that can fill the following style I've been kicking around: someone who can take my character style (I have pics of my characters that fit character structure if they need it), and fill it with a great deal of expression and emotion through shading, accentuation, angle, depth and pose. The artist involved will naturally be required to read the book in its technically complete but pre-release version, and if they decide afterwards that they don't want the project, then that's fine.

Nothing's set in stone yet, so I might even go with no art at all if things aren't going smoothly on that front or if I'm convinced that no art would be a better idea. If you want to help in any small way, if you believe yourself to possess the above attributes or know someone who does and is willing, then contact me or spread the word to the right people, respectively.

My tag on there is DarthVenom2, not 1, but other than that I wouldn't think there'd be any big problems finding me.

You should really update that forum of yours that you link to on your freeweb site. the last post was like 3 years ago. Also, great writing. It's amasing how you've managed to continuously update it for about 5 years now, and you have still managed to keep it interesting. In fact, I have just finished re-reading the entirety of it last week and I love how one can detect how much more advanced your writing and plot development skills have matured over the years. Keep it up!
:icondarthvenom1:
Woo! You have no idea how good it is to hear feedback like that while I'm in such a feedback drought otherwise. As for the forum...I've since more or less abandoned the idea, since a forum is useless without a healthy amount of posters and it just doesn't seem to be happening. If by chance I get more popular, then I might reboot the forum once I have enough (vocal) readers with enough forum interest to generate a steady userbase.

Such a shame you are not well recognized.
